Extension DevelopmentPossessiveness and Locks
History of mechanical locks started over 6000 years ago in Ancient Egypt, where locksmith first managed to create simple but effective pin tumbler lock that was made entirely from wood.
Since then people were using locks to store their belongings in a cupboards or large drums. So the insecurity feeling and possessiveness started before 6000 years ago.
The feeling of insecurity and possessiveness kept of differing from people to people. Kings were bound to use the locks as they had a good amount of gold and silver in their capacity. They have to keep it secure and have to show their possessiveness to other Kings.
But if we take an era before the locks were found, we will have to dig out the history of mankind were such metals like Gold or Silver was of no value. People were happy exchanging things with each other. The Barter System. If I need rice and I dont need wheat, I will give the wheat to someone who needs rice and visa versa. Due to Barter System the feeling of possessiveness was less, as people were always in need of things which other’s were having.
Now the time has changed, people have become unpredictable. To cheat others for the sake of own benefit has become a trend in recent times. If we turn back the pages and check the history, then there were towns and cities which never had locks for their houses and shops. People trusted each other and lived their life. Such towns are less or minimal, but some countries like Dubai has made an advancement to curb such crimes of theft. The shop owners in Gold Suck Area, Dubai do not have shutters for their shops. In case of theft, they have technology which calls the police in seconds and cops also arrive within 2 to 5 mins of such information from the alarm.
So, possessiveness, relating to ownership or possession, is for something which is in your capacity and which you never wish to share with anyone else. It can be of having or manifesting a desire to control or dominate another, especially in order to limit that person's relationships with others, which we normally see in our spouse, close friends, parents, siblings and many more.
Hence, human beings will always have a nature of possessiveness, which was less in past and more in the recent times.
